East Lothian Council has submitted a bid for £15 million to support the regeneration of the Cockenzie Power Station site. The site has been owned by the Council for almost four years and the Levelling Up Fund would give the Council the funding it needs to get the project off the ground.
The Council plans to fully revive the site, capitalising on its vast employment opportunities and promoting economic growth. The fund will also go towards works like the removal of earthwork, the revitalisation of the sea wall and flood defences and the enhancement and re-routing of the John Muir Way.
Local Recovery is excited to be supporting the Council’s bid and we want to keep you in the loop on its progress. You can find the specific details of the Council’s plans for the site and their bid to the UK Government’s Levelling Up Fund here.
