Local Recovery is working with Seamab as they campaign for funding for a new school building. Seamab provides sector-leading residential care and education to some of Scotland’s most vulnerable children aged between 5 and 18 years. All of the children have been subjected to significant adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) including neglect, physical, emotional and sexual abuse.
Seamab’s current school building is not an effective learning environment so the school is working to create a new fit-for-purpose school which will provide a stimulating environment where children can recover, learn and grow.
Unlike mainstream schools, no government funding is routinely allocated for independent school infrastructure in Scotland so Seamab are planning to fund their £5.5 million plans from reserves, pro-bono contributions from the construction sector and fundraising. £1.8million has already been secured and Local Recovery is working with Seamab to engage with local and national politicians to raise government funding from all possible sources.
